  1. Feb 1991: various corrections and simplifications.  Sz now
  2. stores critical error messages for post mortem display.

  4. Man pages are formatted for those without Unix nroff.
  5.  
  6. VMS systems are now supported with native VMS versions in
  7. RZSZ.TLB.  The rz and sz in RZSZ.TLB support wild cards and
  8. VMS record types.
  9.  
  10. May 1989: Corrections for undefined variable and multiply
  11. defined rdchk() on some systems.
  12.  
  13. New for 1989: ZMODEM compression and other compatible
  14. extensions have been added to the rz and sz programs.
  15. Please read the comments in the rz.c and sz.c source code
  16. for licensing information.

  18. Previous versions of rz and sz (April 1988) remain Public Domain.

  20. The contents of RZSZ.ZOO can be uploaded to a Unix or Xenix
  21. system by ZCOMM or Professional-YAM using the supplied zupl.t
  22. script.  Connect to your Unix/Xenix system, select an empty
  23. directory, and then give the YAM/ZCOMM command: "source
  24. zupl.t".  This will upload minirb.c, compile it, and then use
  25. minirb to upload the rz/sz files.

  27. Once these files are on your Unix system, you can type "make".
  28. The Makefile will list the various systems it knows how to
  29. compile the programs for, and the command to do so (e.g.,
  30. "make bsd").

  32. The Makefile is self explanatory; just say "make".
  33.  
  34. Naturally, rz and sz work best with comm programs that seamlessly
  35. support ZMODEM command and file AutoDownload (Pro-YAM and ZCOMM).
  36.  
  37. The "DSZ" shareware program allows ZMODEM file transfers with
  38. traditional DOS comm programs, but it must be called manually.
  39. (The computer should do that for you!) DSZ provides a "mini
  40. term function" that supports ZMODEM AutoDownload.  DSZ (part
  41. of DSZ.ZIP) and ZCOMM (ZCOMMEXE.ZIP, ZCOMMDOC.ZIP,
  42. ZCOMMHLP.ZIP) are available on TeleGodzilla and other fine
  43. bulletin boards.
